Chalandamarz in Sils 2027 - the children's spring parade

On Monday 1 March 2027, the children of Sils celebrate Chalandamarz, the Engadin custom that sends the winter away at the start of March.

The event

Chalandamarz is held in villages across the Engadin on 1 March. In Sils, the children walk through the village ringing large bells, cracking whips and singing, to drive out the winter. The route and start time are not published in advance.
