Mittwochs-Wanderlust 2026 - guided hikes from Sils Maria

Every Wednesday from 5 August to 21 October 2026, a guided hike leaves Sils Maria in the morning, with a local guide picking the route and the stories that go with it.

The event

Mittwochs-Wanderlust is a weekly guided hike that starts at the reception of Hotel Schweizerhof and runs into the late afternoon. The two guides, Adrian and Franz, live in the region and choose each week's route themselves, either in the Upper Engadin or over in the Bregaglia. That keeps the programme moving with the season: long days and high paths in August, cool mornings and autumn colour by the middle of October. Because the destination changes from week to week, reception can tell you where the coming Wednesday is heading before you sign up.

The guiding is in German, and the commentary is a good part of the appeal. Adrian and Franz know the valleys, the villages and the history attached to them, so the day gives you more than a walk along waymarked signposts. Plan for a full day out rather than a morning stroll. The group meets at 09:15 and is back around 16:00.

Plan your stay

Mittwochs-Wanderlust starts at our own front desk, so the trip to the start line is a flight of stairs. Schweizerhof, Sils Maria sits in the village between Lake Sils and the entrance to Val Fex, which makes walking straight from the door the normal way to spend a day here.
