Engadin Night Run 2027 - a floodlit run starting in Sils
.webp)
On the evening of Thursday 11 March 2027, the Engadin Night Run sets off from Sils and heads down the valley to Pontresina, 17 kilometres of floodlit cross-country skiing through the winter dark. The start is a short walk from Hotel Schweizerhof.
The event
The Night Run is the atmospheric centrepiece of Engadin Marathon Week, the build-up to the famous Skimarathon three days later. Now in its ninth year, it sends skiers off at 19:00 along a floodlit and torch-lit trail, with the frozen lakes and forests of the Upper Engadin in silhouette on either side. The 17 kilometre course runs from Sils to Pontresina in the classic and skating styles, open to committed racers and recreational skiers alike, and the finish in Pontresina turns into a small night-time festival.
Where to watch from Hotel Schweizerhof
The run starts in Sils Maria, so guests racing it can walk to the start, and supporters can see the field off before it disappears down the valley under the lights. It is one of the few events of the winter that begins on the hotel's doorstep. The Engadin Bus and the rail line make it easy to follow the course to the finish in Pontresina, about 20 minutes away.
