FIS Alpine Ski World Cup St. Moritz (Women) – Elite Racing in the Engadin

Alain Grosclaude/Agence Zoom

Each December, St. Moritz hosts one of the most prestigious events in women’s alpine skiing. The FIS Alpine Ski World Cup stop attracts the sport’s best downhill and Super-G racers to the Salastrains slopes, offering a rare chance for spectators to watch high-speed competition in a spectacular alpine setting.

Event Overview

Date: 12–14 December 2025
The 2025 programme includes two Women’s Downhill races on Friday and Saturday, followed by a Women’s Super-G on Sunday. The course above St. Moritz offers long, challenging runs and excellent viewing areas. Crowds gather in the finish zone, where big screens show the full race, and athletes meet the media and fans after their runs.

What to Expect

The atmosphere in the finish area is lively, with music, live commentary, and food stands serving regional specialities. Temperatures can be cold in mid-December, so warm layers and sturdy winter footwear are essential. Between races, visitors can explore St. Moritz’s shops, cafés, and lakeside promenade.

Insider Tips for Visitors

  • The best views are from the official spectator area near the finish zone at Salastrains
  • Bring binoculars for a better view of the upper course sections
  • Arrive early to avoid queues for the cable car or shuttle bus from St. Moritz Dorf
  • Combine the event with a morning ski on the Corviglia slopes before the races start

Combine with Other Activities in Sils Maria

Guests based in Sils Maria can reach St. Moritz in around 15–20 minutes by bus. After the races, return to Sils for an evening walk along Lake Sils or a relaxing spa session. December is also the start of the cross-country ski season, with freshly prepared trails in Val Fex and along the lakes.
