Engadiner Bierwandertag 2026 | Schweizerhof Sils Maria

On 26 September 2026, the first Engadiner Bierwandertag takes place, a hiking day through the mountains above Sils-Maria built around regional brewing. It opens with a brewer's breakfast at Furtschellas, then follows alpine trails past five tasting stations serving local beers and Engadine specialities. Numbers are capped at 240 participants, starting in flights of around 20. Schweizerhof, Sils Maria, a Faern collection resort, sits a short walk from both the start and the finish.

What the route involves

The day begins with the cable car up to Furtschellas and the brewer's breakfast. From there the beer hike descends alpine paths towards Sils, with five tasting stations along the way. The ticket covers every tasting, food along the route, regional specialities and an official tasting glass. Alcohol-free and vegetarian options are available at each station. The cable car ride is not included in the ticket, though many hotel guests and season pass holders already have it covered. The day closes with a celebration in Sils village.

Good to know

The hike is rated moderate. The first section crosses alpine mountain paths and requires sure footing. Including all tasting and food stops, the tour takes roughly four to five hours. Hiking or trekking boots with a proper tread are mandatory and are checked at the start. Minimum age is 16. The event runs in all normal weather, and participants are informed in good time if conditions or safety require a change.

Why Schweizerhof works as a base

Sils im Engadin is both the start and the finish of the event. Staying at Schweizerhof, Sils Maria removes the drive on event day and lets you carry the evening on in the village after the closing party. Late September brings autumn colour to the Upper Engadine, and an extra night pairs well with a walk into Val Fex or around Lake Sils.

The Engadiner Bierwandertag combines a moderate autumn hike with regional brewing and Engadine cooking, in small groups and with limited places. Tickets are booked directly through the organiser's website. For travel and accommodation, book early, late September is a busy weekend in the Engadine.
