Inferno Triathlon 2026: from Thun to the Schilthorn

Friday 14 to Sunday 16 August 2026, one of the toughest triathlons in the world races through the Bernese Oberland.
The Inferno Triathlon climbs 5,500 metres across four disciplines, starting in Lake Thun and finishing on the Schilthorn. Just 333 athletes line up each year, and the race is known for its alpine setting, the small race village in Mürren and the unbroken view of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau on the closing stages. Victoria Lauberhorn, a Faern collection resort, sits on the Wengen side of the Lauterbrunnen valley, a short train and cableway hop across to Mürren for spectators and crews.
The four disciplines
- 3 km swim starting at the Lido in Thun
- 97 km road bike to Grindelwald
- 30 km mountain bike to Stechelberg
- 25 km mountain run from Stechelberg to the Schilthorn
