Altein Arosa is a 4-star lifestyle hotel in the Faern Hotels and Resorts Collection, located in the sunniest spot of Arosa between two lakes in the Graubunden region of the Swiss Alps. Originally a historic sanatorium, the hotel has been fully renovated into a contemporary alpine retreat featuring 126 rooms and suites with retro-alpine design, a 950 sqm wellness and spa area, multiple restaurants and a bar, and direct access to the Arosa Lenzerheide ski area in winter and over 200 km of hiking trails in summer.

The hotel sits between the Obersee and Untersee lakes in the sunniest part of the village, just a few minutes' walk from the Arosa train station and approximately 250 metres from the Weisshorn cable car.

Is Altein Arosa open year-round?

Altein Arosa is a seasonal hotel. It is typically closed during parts of April, May, some of June, October, and November. The hotel operates during the winter ski season and the summer season. All Mountain View rooms include a private balcony.

Do any rooms at Altein Arosa have balconies?

Yes. All Mountain View room categories and the Deluxe Corner Balcony room include a private balcony. These are: Cosy Single Mountain View, Comfy Double Mountain View, Maxi Triple Mountain View, and Deluxe Corner Balcony. The standard Cosy Single, Comfy Double, Deluxe Corner Room, Family Room, and Family Suite do not have balconies.

Are there family rooms at Altein Arosa?

Yes. Altein Arosa offers two family room types that sleep up to 4 guests: the Family Room and the Family Suite. The hotel also offers connecting or adjoining rooms upon request, which is an ideal solution for families with young children. Baby cots are available free of charge.

What are the check-in and check-out times at Altein Arosa?

Check-in is from 15:00 (3:00 PM). Check-out is by 10:00 (10:00 AM). If you arrive before check-in time and your room is ready, early check-in may be offered. Altein Arosa has three dining and drinking venues. Alpensand Panoramic Restaurant is the hotel's signature restaurant located on the top floor with panoramic views over Arosa, open to both hotel guests and the public. Zus Brasserie is the hotel's in-house restaurant serving breakfast and dinner for hotel guests. Alchemilla Parlour Bar is a stylish bar open to both hotel guests and the public.

Is breakfast included at Altein Arosa?

Does Altein Arosa offer half-board?

Facilities include two indoor swimming pools with underwater massage jets and waterfall showers, one outdoor seasonal pool with lazy river, an outdoor whirlpool (hot tub), a steam room, a sauna, and a fitness centre. The hotel also offers a range of spa treatments and massages using Swiss products.

Is access to the wellness area included in the room rate at Altein Arosa?

Yes. All hotel guests have complimentary access to the swimming pools, sauna, steam room, and fitness centre. Spa treatments and massages are available at an additional cost.

Should I book spa treatments in advance at Altein Arosa?

During high season (peak winter and summer periods), it is recommended to book spa treatments in advance. You can book by contacting the hotel reception before or during your stay.

Are there age restrictions for the wellness area at Altein Arosa?

There are no general age restrictions for the pool and wellness area. However, the sauna area is reserved for guests aged 16 and above. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult in the pool area. There is no lifeguard on duty.

Is the outdoor pool at Altein Arosa open in summer?

Yes. The outdoor pool with lazy river is open during the summer season. The indoor pools, sauna, steam room, and fitness centre are available throughout the hotel's operating season.

How close is Altein Arosa to the ski lifts?

Altein Arosa is approximately 250 metres from the Weisshorn cable car. There is a free ski bus that stops directly outside the hotel and reaches the lift station in about 3 minutes.

How many kilometres of ski slopes are accessible from Altein Arosa?

Guests at Altein Arosa have access to 225 kilometres of ski slopes in the Arosa Lenzerheide ski area, one of the largest connected ski regions in Graubunden.

Is Altein Arosa a ski-in/ski-out hotel?

No. Altein Arosa is not ski-in/ski-out. The Weisshorn cable car is approximately 250 metres from the hotel, and a free ski bus stops directly outside the hotel for a 3-minute ride to the lifts.

Summer Activities

What summer activities are available near Altein Arosa?

Arosa offers over 200 kilometres of hiking trails for all levels, mountain biking and e-bike tours, paragliding, golf at the Arosa Golf Club, padel tennis, mini golf, the Rope Park Arosa, swimming in the hotel pools and at the Untersee Lido, pedalo and rowing on the Obersee, visits to the Arosa Bear Sanctuary (Barenland), the Squirrel Trail, stargazing, horse riding, and the Viaduct Museum Langwies. Many of these activities are included free of charge with the Arosa Card.

What is the Arosa Card and what does it include?

The Arosa Card is a free guest card provided to all overnight guests in Arosa during the summer season (approximately mid-June to mid-October). The card includes free use of the Weisshorn and Hornli cable cars, local Arosa bus and Rhaetian Railway between Luen-Castiel and Arosa, Rope Park Arosa, 30 minutes of pedalo or rowing on the Obersee, Untersee beach and Lido, ChippinGolf at Pratschli, golf driving range at Golf Club Arosa including club rental, the Schanfigger local history museum (Eggahuus), and free entry to the Arosa Bear Sanctuary (Barenland) for Altein Arosa guests as the hotel is a sponsor. Bike transport on cable cars and equipment rental at the Rope Park are not included. There is no Arosa Card in winter.

Is the Arosa Bear Sanctuary (Barenland) free for guests of Altein Arosa?

Yes. Altein Arosa is a sponsor of the Arosa Bear Sanctuary (Barenland), and hotel guests receive free entry. The sanctuary is accessible via the Weisshorn cable car, which is also free with the Arosa Card in summer.

Yes. Altein Arosa is very family-friendly. The hotel offers a children's playroom, game rooms, and connecting or family rooms that sleep up to 4 guests. In summer, there is a children's activity programme. In winter, children benefit from free ski school. Baby cots are available free of charge.

How do I get to Altein Arosa?

Altein Arosa is located in the village of Arosa in Graubunden, Switzerland. The journey from Zurich Airport takes approximately 2 hours by both car and train. Taking the train is often the better choice: travel by Swiss rail (SBB) to Chur, then transfer to the Rhaetian Railway scenic mountain line to Arosa. The hotel is just a few minutes' walk from the Arosa train station. By car, drive via the A13 motorway to Chur and then follow the mountain road to Arosa.

What is the nearest airport to Altein Arosa?

The nearest major airport is Zurich Airport (ZRH), approximately 2 hours from Arosa by car or train.

Does Altein Arosa offer airport transfers?

No. Altein Arosa does not offer airport transfer services. The hotel is easily accessible by train, and the journey from Zurich Airport takes approximately 2 hours via Chur.

Is there parking at Altein Arosa?

Yes. Altein Arosa has paid indoor parking. The cost is approximately CHF 12 per night. Parking is not included in the room rate. Please check the hotel website or contact reception for current prices.
