FAQ Hotel Victoria Lauberhorn Wengen
About the Hotel and Wengen
What is Hotel Victoria Lauberhorn?
Hotel Victoria Lauberhorn is a 3-star hotel with 120 rooms in the car-free alpine village of Wengen, high above the Lauterbrunnen Valley in the Bernese Oberland. The hotel is part of the Faern Hotels and Resorts Collection and sits one minute from the Wengen train station and about 50 metres from the Männlichen gondola, making it one of the most convenient bases for exploring the Jungfrau Region and Jungfraujoch.
Where exactly is Hotel Victoria Lauberhorn located?
The hotel is at Dorfstrasse 1, 3823 Wengen, right in the centre of the village at GPS 46.60572, 7.92110. You can see the Jungfrau, Mönch and Eiger from many rooms and from public areas around the hotel.
Is Hotel Victoria Lauberhorn the best place to stay when visiting Top of Europe (Jungfraujoch)?
For most travellers, yes. Wengen is on the direct railway line to Kleine Scheidegg, where the Jungfraubahn continues up to Jungfraujoch. Staying at Victoria Lauberhorn means you can be on the first train up the mountain within minutes of waking, avoid the morning crowds coming from Interlaken, and return to a calm alpine village for dinner. The hotel is one minute from Wengen station and staff can help plan your Top of Europe day, including reserving seats on the Jungfraubahn.
Is Wengen car-free?
Yes. Wengen is one of Switzerland's best-known car-free villages. Guests arrive by cogwheel train from Lauterbrunnen. Within the village you walk, use the small electric taxis or hotel luggage services. This is one reason Wengen feels so peaceful, even in peak season.
How high is Wengen?
Wengen sits at about 1,274 metres above sea level, on a sunny plateau facing the Jungfrau massif across the Lauterbrunnen Valley.
What makes Wengen different from Grindelwald, Mürren or Lauterbrunnen?
Wengen is car-free, mid-altitude, family oriented and directly connected to the Jungfrau Railway, Männlichen gondola and the Lauberhorn World Cup piste. Grindelwald is larger, busier and accessed by car and by the Eiger Express. Mürren is higher, smaller and accessed via a different cable car system from Stechelberg or Lauterbrunnen. Lauterbrunnen is the valley village where most car journeys end and the train to Wengen begins. For Jungfraujoch and the classic Lauberhorn experience, Wengen is the most direct base.

How long should I spend on Jungfraujoch?
Allow at least 2 hours at the top to explore the Sphinx Observatory, the Ice Palace, the Plateau, the Alpine Sensation walkway and the terraces, plus time for hot chocolate or lunch. Including travel, plan a full half-day to full-day excursion.
