Swiss Wandernacht Wengen 2026: Night Hike on the Panorama Trail

On the night of 27 to 28 June 2026, the 20th edition of the Schweizer Wandernacht brings a free, guided night hike to Wengen, Männlichen and Kleine Scheidegg. Take the cable car up from the village, then follow a 4½-hour panorama trail under the stars, with the silhouettes of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau on every horizon.
What the night looks like
The walk begins with the Wengen to Männlichen cable car, a five-minute climb from the station next to Victoria Lauberhorn. From the summit, the route runs along the panorama trail to Kleine Scheidegg, then descends via Wengernalp, Mettlenalp and Allmend back to Wengen. Allow around 4½ hours of moving time. Local guides walk with the group, and headlamps are recommended.
This is the 20th Swiss Wandernacht, organised across multiple cantons by Schweiz Tourismus and Swiss Hiking. The Wengen route is one of the highest in the line-up.
Practical planning

- Cost: Free to join. Cable car and train tickets are at your own cost (covered by the Jungfrau Travel Pass)

- Bring: Headlamp, layered warm clothing, sturdy hiking shoes, water, light snack
- Conditions: Alpine paths, some uneven ground. Suitable for sure-footed walkers with reasonable fitness
Children are welcome on the gentler sections. The full loop is best for hikers used to longer mountain walks.
