Wengen Folklore Evenings

Through the summer season, Wengen holds a recurring series of folklore evenings, typically weekly from July into early September. Each one brings folk music, traditional dances, yodelling and Trychlern, the bell ringers, under a marquee in the middle of the car-free village.

The event

The folklore evenings put Swiss tradition on stage a few steps from your door. Folk music and traditional dances fill the programme, alongside yodelling and the Trychlern, whose heavy cowbells set a rhythm you feel as much as hear. The evenings run under a marquee, with a small festival restaurant on site, so you can settle in with something to eat and drink and let the programme come to you. It is an unhurried, sociable way to spend a summer evening.

In the village

The marquee stands behind the Tourist Centre in the centre of Wengen, an easy walk from anywhere in the village and from the hotel. Because Wengen is car-free, the walk over is part of the evening, quiet streets and mountain air on the way in and out. The evenings are family-friendly, and the central setting means there is no transfer to plan and no last train to catch.

Check the weekly programme when you arrive to catch the next evening, and book your summer stay in good time, as the season is busy in Wengen.
