Lieselotte Family Day on Männlichen

On Saturday 11 July 2026, from 10:00 to 14:00, Männlichen hosts a family day built around Lieselotte, the much-loved children's-book cow, marking her 20-year anniversary. The summit programme brings an author reading and hands-on activities for children, all set out on the mountain above Wengen.
The event
Lieselotte has been a fixture of children's bookshelves for two decades, and the anniversary gives her a whole day on the mountain. The summit fills with activities pitched at younger children: an author reading brings the stories to life, and there is plenty to keep small hands busy between sessions. It is an easy, unhurried morning out, timed to fit around lunch and an afternoon back in the village.
Up on Männlichen
Männlichen sits directly above Wengen, and the Wengen-Männlichen cable car does the climbing for you. The valley station is right by the hotel, and the ride to the summit takes about five minutes. From the top you get the full sweep of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, and the family programme unfolds on the open ground around the station. With children in tow, the short ride and the flat summit terrain make this one of the more manageable mountain outings from the village.
