Mendelssohn Musikwoche Wengen 2026

From 15 to 22 August 2026, Wengen becomes a stage for classical music during the 22nd Mendelssohn Musikwoche – a unique blend of culture, alpine scenery and history.
Felix Mendelssohn visited Wengen in August 1842 during a hike through the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Inspired by the Jungfrau, he created a sketch that remains the oldest known depiction of the village. Today, his legacy lives on through concerts, cultural sites and scenic hiking experiences.

Alongside the festival, the Mendelssohn Musikwoche also hosts an inspiring international masterclass (11–16 August 2026), set against the stunning backdrop of the Jungfrau.
Designed for music students and young talents, the course offers intensive coaching in:
- Playing technique and interpretation
- Style and musical expression

Participants benefit from the experience of renowned instructors, while all sessions remain open to listeners – creating a vibrant and inspiring learning environment.
