Mendelssohn Musikwoche Wengen
From 15 to 22 August 2026, the 22nd Mendelssohn Musikwoche fills Wengen with a week of classical chamber music, played by world-class musicians in venues around the village. The festival marks Felix Mendelssohn's own connection to Wengen, and it all happens a few steps from the hotel.
The event
The Mendelssohn Musikwoche is a week of chamber concerts held in the heart of Wengen, including in the Reformed Church, whose acoustics and quiet setting suit the repertoire. The programme draws leading chamber musicians from across Europe: this year's concerts include the Amaryllis Quartett on 21 August and the Guarneri Trio Prag on 22 August, alongside a full week of performances in between.
The festival takes Mendelssohn's link to Wengen as its starting point, and the setting is part of the appeal. Between concerts, the mountains are on the doorstep, and the music carries the unhurried pace of the village with it.
Around the village
Everything happens within Wengen, so there is no travel to plan. Concerts are an easy walk from the hotel, which sits in the centre of the car-free village next to the railway station. You can spend the afternoon on the trails toward Männlichen or Wengernalp, come back down, and be in your seat for the evening's performance without touching a car.
