Weddings

A wedding at Altein is not an evening. It is a weekend, often three days, sometimes four. The ceremony is the centre, but it sits inside an arc that begins with arrivals on a Thursday or Friday and ends with a long, slow Sunday brunch. Altein, between two alpine lakes at 1,800 metres in Arosa, has the spaces and the rooms to carry the whole arc: 126 rooms across configurations for guests of every age, two restaurants, a privatisable bar, and terraces with the village and the peaks as the frame.

A weekend shaped around the couple

The morning belongs to the couple. The larger suites give space for getting ready with the wedding party, with views directly onto the surrounding peaks. The ceremony can take place on one of the property's terraces, alpine air, the lakes below, and silence as the only soundtrack, or in a fully privatised dining space if the weather suggests indoors. Reception drinks then move to the Alchemilla Parlour Bar, where the cocktail brief can be matched to the day. Dinner unfolds at Alpensand, the rooftop restaurant, or at Zus Brasserie privatised for the evening, depending on the size and feel of the wedding.

Spaces for larger weddings

For larger weddings, the property can be booked in full: 126 rooms, two restaurants, the bar, the meeting rooms repurposed as styling and quiet spaces, and the terraces for receptions and afterparties. Zus Brasserie seats up to around 200 for a privatised dinner. Alpensand seats around 80 around the panoramic windows. Late-night dancing continues at the bar, and Sunday rolls naturally into a long brunch on the terrace. The 950 m² spa is open to the wedding party throughout the weekend. Why Arosa for a wedding

Arosa shifts the rhythm. Guests travelling from cities arrive into thinner air, longer views, and a village that runs at a different pace. The link to Lenzerheide means active guests can ski or hike the day before, the day after, or even on the wedding morning. A culinary hike or an alpine walk works as a Friday warm-up for the closest guests. Arosa is reached by train from Zurich in under three hours, which means large parts of the guest list arrive in a way that already feels celebratory, pulling into the village together rather than scattered across motorways.

Planning your stay

Faern works with external event planners and florists for weddings at Altein. Couples can use the partners we recommend, or bring their own. From the date and the headcount onwards, the on-property side is co-ordinated for you: dietary requirements, guest transport, room blocks, and back-of-house timing on the day, so the couple can focus on the weekend itself.

Send us a date, an approximate headcount, and a few notes on what the wedding should feel like. We will come back with a proposal covering the full weekend, not just the ceremony.

Frequently asked questions

How many guests can Altein host for a wedding?

Zus Brasserie seats up to around 200 for a privatised dinner. Alpensand seats around 80 around the panoramic windows. Full-property weddings can be booked for larger guest lists, with 126 rooms across the property.

Can we hold the ceremony at the property?

Yes. The terraces and lakeside settings outside the hotel work for outdoor ceremonies, with a fully privatised indoor space available if the weather turns.

Can the wedding cover a full weekend rather than a single day?

Yes. The format usually runs from Thursday or Friday arrivals through to a long Sunday brunch, with the spa and the village open to guests across the weekend.

Is the spa open to the wedding party throughout the stay?

Yes. The 950 m² spa with indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam, and a quiet area is open to all guests throughout the weekend.

How do guests get to Arosa?

By train from Zurich Airport in under three hours via Chur, by direct rail from major Swiss cities, or by road. Altein is 550 metres from Arosa station.

How far in advance should we book?

Earlier is better. Peak wedding-season dates (June to September) fill first, and full-property bookings are typically reserved 12 to 18 months ahead. Send us a request with your preferred date and we will come back with availability.
