AquaLumina 2026: free lake light show on the Obersee

Copyright Arosa Tourism

From 13 June to 25 October 2026, the Aroser Obersee turns into a stage three nights a week. AquaLumina is a free, open-air show of light, water and sound, projected on a hydroscreen above the lake and lasting just under fifteen minutes. It runs every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday at 21:45, and Altein sits a short walk from the water.

The event

A hydroscreen is a semicircular curtain of water created by a high-pressure pump, fine enough that laser light refracts through it and forms a hologram-like projection. The collective behind it, NOA (No Ordinary Art), has been producing site-specific shows since 2009, and on the Obersee the result is a moving image of colour and music, sometimes calm and romantic, sometimes dramatic, layered over the dark surface of the lake.

The weekly programme rotates between two shows. Tuesdays and Saturdays bring Hansi's Aqua Lumina Show; Fridays bring the Aurora and A'rosa Show. Each lasts about fifteen minutes, starts at 21:45 and is free, with the Aroser Welle on the Obersee as the viewing area. The evening walk down from the village, past the church to the water, is part of the experience. Bring a light jacket, as temperatures drop quickly after dark, and a torch for the way back.

Plan your stay

Altein, a Faern Collection Resort, sits in the heart of Arosa within an easy walk of the Obersee, an ideal base for a summer evening by the lake. Have dinner first at the restaurants and bars, timed around an early seating so there is room to walk down and find a spot at the water's edge. Round off the day in the spa, then head out for the show, one of the few things in Arosa you can enjoy after dark without booking. Come and stay with us in Arosa.
