Wengen Evening Runs 2026: Twilight Race on Dorfstrasse
On the evening of Friday 3 July 2026, the Abendlauf Wengen turns Dorfstrasse into a race course. Three timed races, a 1.25 km children's loop, a 2 km, and the main 7.7 km, run through the village and back, all starting in the cool light of an alpine summer evening.
The 2026 races
- 18:40, children's race: 1.25 km on a fenced village loop
- 19:00, main races: 7.7 km and 2 km, mass start on Dorfstrasse
Entry is CHF 25 for adults, CHF 10 for children. Online registration opens on abendlauf-wengen.ch. Late registration is possible on race day between 16:00 and 18:00 at the start area.
Why this race is special
The Abendlauf is a village race, run by volunteers, drawing club runners and weekend joggers alongside elite trail athletes warming up for the Eiger Ultra later in the month. The 7.7 km loop climbs through Wengen's car-free lanes, drops into a forest trail, and finishes back on Dorfstrasse to live cowbells and an after-race apéro.

Victoria Lauberhorn, a Faern collection resort, sits in the centre of car-free Wengen, less than three minutes' walk from the Dorfstrasse start area. We hold late dinner for race finishers, and the 1000 m² spa is open for stretching and recovery the morning after. The hotel is also an easy base for the Eiger Ultra by UTMB two weeks later, if you want to extend the running trip.
Note on the second 2026 edition: the Abendlauf traditionally runs a second night in August. The 2026 August date is not yet published. We will update this page as soon as the date is confirmed.
