Trail Running Day Arosa | 15 August 2026
.webp)
Arosa sits in a high, open bowl of the Graubünden Alps, ringed by peaks and laced with runnable mountain trails. It is one of the most rewarding places in Switzerland to learn how to move well on technical terrain. This guided trail running day, based at Altein, a Faern collection resort, takes a small group out with an experienced coach for a full day of uphill technique, descent skills and time spent simply enjoying the mountains. Whether you run regularly or are stepping onto alpine trails for the first time, the day is built around you.
The setting
The day follows part of the A15 Arosa Trailrun route, a stretch that climbs through alpine meadow and opens onto wide ridge views over the valley. The terrain rewards good technique rather than raw speed, which makes it ideal ground for coaching. You run, you learn, and you stop often enough to take in where you are. Lunch happens on the summit, not in a hurry.
What the day looks like
The programme runs from mid-morning to early evening, with a natural rhythm of effort, learning and recovery.
Morning: warm-up and uphill technique
The group sets off on a relaxed trail run to warm up, then works on uphill technique on the climb along the A15 route. The focus is on efficient movement and pacing rather than pushing hard.
Midday: summit lunch and mountain time
A packed lunch is served at the top. Afterwards there is time to enjoy the alpine surroundings while the coach talks through how to build training effectively over a season.
Afternoon: descent skills and recovery
The descent is where most runners gain the most. The coach covers downhill technique and practical tips for running confidently on uneven ground. Back at the resort, the day winds down with a guided Blackroll recovery session, which works just as well without a roller.
Early evening: wind-down
The day closes with a relaxed gathering in the lounge, a chance to compare notes and rest tired legs.
Practical information
The day is guided by an experienced trail running coach. Group sizes are kept small, with one coach for up to eight to ten runners, so there is real attention for everyone.

Make a day of it in the mountains
A guided day on the trails pairs naturally with a stay in Arosa, where the evenings are quiet and the air is thin and clean. Build the run into a longer break, rest properly afterwards, and let the mountains do the rest. To plan your day on the trails, book your stay at Altein or explore more Arosa experiences.
