Anniversary

A silver, golden, or diamond anniversary is the rare celebration where the story has already been written, by the two people standing at the centre of the room. The job of the venue is to give that story space to be felt. Altein, between two alpine lakes at 1,800 metres in Arosa, is set up for celebrations of exactly this register. The format works as a weekend rather than a single evening: arrivals on the Friday, a long anniversary dinner on the Saturday, and a slow Sunday back into ordinary time.

A weekend shaped around the couple

Anniversary weekends at Altein follow a clear arc. Guests arrive on the Friday, settle into one of the 126 rooms, and gather at the Alchemilla Parlour Bar for a relaxed welcome. The anniversary dinner can take place at Alpensand, the rooftop restaurant, or at Zus Brasserie privatised for the evening. Menus can be built around personal preference, including dishes from the year the couple were married or from places they have lived since. The kitchen handles the brief.

Spaces for the celebration

Intimate dinners for twelve and larger gatherings of over a hundred are both possible. The 950 m² spa gives guests a place to slow down between the formal moments. The restaurants at Altein privatise around the format of the weekend. For couples renewing their vows, the lakeside settings outside the hotel and the property's terraces work for short, simple rituals, with an indoor space as the weather fallback.

Why Arosa for an anniversary

Arosa shifts the rhythm. Cities give way to thinner air, longer views, and a village that runs at a different pace. The link to Lenzerheide means more active guests can spend the day on the trails or the slopes before dinner. A culinary hike on the Saturday afternoon adds a shared experience for the couple's closest guests. At 1,800 metres the weekend feels like a pause from ordinary time, which is what an anniversary asks for.

Planning your stay

We work with you on the anniversary weekend from the date and guest list outwards. Toasts can be planned so the room hears from children and grandchildren as well as the couple. Surprises, a slideshow, a string quartet, an old recipe at dessert, are timed so the weekend builds rather than peaks too early.

Send us the anniversary date, your guest list, and a few notes on the shape of the weekend you have in mind. We will come back with a proposal designed around the two of you.

Frequently asked questions

How many guests can Altein host for an anniversary celebration?

Zus Brasserie seats up to around 200 for a privatised dinner. Alpensand seats around 80. The two spaces can be used individually or combined.

Can we host a vow-renewal ceremony at the property?

Yes. The terraces and lakeside settings outside the hotel work for short rituals, with an indoor space available if the weather turns.

Is the spa open to guests through the weekend?

Yes. The 950 m² spa with indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam, and a quiet area is open to all guests throughout the celebration.

Can the menu be built around personal stories or anniversary themes?

Yes. The kitchen can build a menu around the couple's preferences, dishes from the year they were married, or places they have lived since.

How do guests get to Arosa?

By train from Zurich Airport in under three hours via Chur, or by road. Altein is 550 metres from Arosa station.

How far in advance should we book?

Earlier is better. Peak periods (December to March, July to August) fill first, and shoulder-season dates can often be booked at shorter notice. For full-property weekends, 9 to 12 months ahead is recommended.
