Corporate Retreats

A corporate retreat earns its budget when the team comes back changed. A clearer plan, sharper relationships, and a few decisions that would not have been made over the usual Tuesday call. The setting is part of the work. Altein, at 1,800 metres in Arosa, removes the conditions that drag in-office days down: back-to-back meetings, fluorescent rooms, distracted commutes. In their place are two rooms designed for focused work, a programme of outdoor activities right outside the door, and an environment that signals "this matters" the moment your team arrives.

Meeting rooms and event spaces

Altein is set up for smaller, focused retreats. The dedicated meeting room seats up to 15 in working configurations (boardroom, U-shape, or workshop layout) with natural daylight, projector or Smart TV, flipcharts, and a dedicated coffee station. For larger presentations or sessions where the format matters as much as the conversation, the Cinema Room runs to 50 in theatre setup or 23 in school setup, suited to keynotes, training days, and team all-hands. Breakout work can spill into Zus Brasserie during quieter hours, or onto the terraces when the agenda calls for fresh air. Full specs and configurations are on the meeting rooms page.

A typical day at Altein

Mornings run in the meeting room with breakfast from Zus Brasserie and a clear agenda. The middle of the day is where Altein earns its place. A working session can break for a short hike on the trails right outside the door, a mountain bike tour through the alpine routes around the village, or a culinary hike that doubles as lunch. For longer afternoons, the rope park and via ferrata give teams a structured challenge away from the meeting room. The 950 m² spa is open to delegates throughout, and a one-hour afternoon pause for sauna or pool slots cleanly between sessions. See the full list of Arosa activities.

Why Arosa for a retreat

Two reasons. First, the link to Lenzerheide gives 225 km of slopes in winter and 900 km of trails in summer, which means short and long activity breaks are available from the property without a transfer. Second, the altitude. Working at 1,800 metres slows the pace just enough that conversations go deeper than they would in town, and the absence of after-work pulls means evenings are genuinely usable for unstructured connection. Add a sub-three-hour rail journey from Zurich and the working day starts on arrival rather than after a long drive home.

Plan your retreat

Retreats at Altein are planned backwards from outcomes. We work with you to define what the team needs to leave the week with, an agreed strategy, a stronger working culture, an onboarding moment for new joiners, and shape the week around that. AV setup, breakout logistics, dietary needs, and transport from Zurich or Chur are all handled by the on-property team.

Tell us your retreat dates, headcount, and the outcome you are working towards. We will come back with a proposal that pairs your working agenda with the right balance of recovery and connection.

Frequently asked questions

How many delegates can Altein host for a retreat?

The dedicated meeting room seats up to 15 in working configurations. For larger sessions, the Cinema Room runs to 50 in theatre setup or 23 in school setup. Altein is best suited to focused retreats and smaller team offsites rather than large conferences.

Are the meeting rooms equipped for hybrid sessions?

Yes. Both the meeting room and the Cinema Room are equipped with projector or Smart TV, microphones, and connectivity for hybrid attendance. AV upgrades for larger productions can be brought in on request.

Can the retreat include team-building activities and activity breaks?

Yes. Short hikes, mountain bike tours, culinary hiking, the rope park, rock climbing, and the via ferrata can all be slotted between sessions or built into the agenda as full afternoons. The trails start at the property's door, which makes short breaks practical even on tight schedules.

Is the spa open to delegates throughout the stay?

Yes. The 950 m² spa with indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam, and a quiet area is open to all delegates throughout the retreat, and a scheduled afternoon pause can be built into the agenda.

How do delegates get to Arosa?

By train from Zurich Airport in under three hours via Chur, by direct rail from major Swiss cities, or by road on the scenic mountain pass. Altein is 550 metres from Arosa station and group transfers from Chur can be arranged.

How far in advance should we book?

It depends on the season. Peak periods (December to March, July to August) fill first, and shoulder-season dates can often be booked at shorter notice. Send us a request with your preferred date and we will come back with availability.
